Description
Clos Apalta is one of Chile’s most prestigious fine-wine estates, located in the Apalta Valley of the Colchagua Valley. Founded in 1994 by Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle and her husband Cyril de Bournet, the estate was established with the ambition of combining French winemaking expertise with Chile’s distinctive terroir.
The vineyards are renowned for their old Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon vines, some planted between 1915 and 1920, growing on poor granite soils on sheltered hillsides. The estate’s gravity-fed winery and meticulous parcel-by-parcel approach to winemaking help preserve the character of individual vineyard plots. Its flagship wine, Clos Apalta, has earned international acclaim, including the Wine Spectator Wine of the Year award in 2005
